- My availability
I am a fully qualified and experienced integrative therapist; this means that I have been trained to draw on different psychological theories and techniques to work with you as an individual to address your particular needs.
I share the widely held belief that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important aspect of our work together. As such, I offer a confidential, non-judgmental and empathetic approach to enable you to feel safe and comfortable enough to talk about yourself and explore the difficulties that you are experiencing. I am here to support you as you work towards a greater understanding of yourself and make positive changes for the future.
I have a purpose-built counselling room in Eltham, South East London, on a quiet road with plenty of unrestricted parking. I am also easily accessible by public transport.
What to Expect
When you first contact me we can agree on an initial meeting date and I'll give you more information on how to find me. I will be happy to offer you a free credit for our first meeting.
In our first session I will ask you for a bit of background information to get a picture of what has brought you to counselling at this particular time and what you would like to get out of it. More importantly, it is also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel like we can work well together. At the end of this session, if you are happy to go ahead, we can book in a time for ongoing sessions.
There is no restriction on how many sessions you can have. I suggest that we start with 6 sessions and then review how the work is going. For longer-term work we will have regular reviews to check that you are still happy with how we are working together.
Counselling sessions last for 50 minutes and are held weekly at the same time.
If this might be a problem for you, if you do shift work for example, I will be as flexible as possible to accommodate you and we can work together to figure out how to have the reliability of regular counselling sessions that still fit with your schedule.
Training, Qualifications and Experience
I have a Masters degree (MSc) in Therapeutic Counselling from the University of Greenwich. I have several years experience providing counselling in various settings, including in NHS primary care (GP surgeries).
I have worked with individuals suffering from many different mental health conditions, such as depression and anxiety, as well as those struggling with life events, such as bereavement and relationship breakdown.
I have also worked in NHS secondary care as a psychotherapist, working with individuals with more complex mental health needs or who had experienced various forms of trauma and abuse.
