How I can help you
In all areas of my work, I aim to create an environment and a therapeutic relationship within which you feel safe, and can explore whatever issues you bring. I will treat you with respect, will try to understand you and your experiences, will be genuine in our relationship and will not be judgmental.
What to expect
I will provide you with an opportunity to talk confidentially about how you feel, to become more self-aware, and to work towards a more satisfying and authentic life. I make every effort to provide a supportive relationship within which you feel safe enough to explore the problems you are facing. I do this in ways which respect your values, abilities and culture.
Our work will be about self-discovery, and about finding solutions which are right for you, rather than receiving advice or being told what to do.
I have worked as a qualified counsellor for over 15 years. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and am on its Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. I have a BSc in Applied Psychology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, a Diploma in Casework Supervision and a BA in English Literature.
I am fully insured, I have regular supervision to ensure that I meet professional standards and I work according to the BACP's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2016).
My experience includes: staff counsellor with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister; affiliate counsellor with several UK Employee Assistance Providers (EAPs), providing counselling to the private sector and Government departments; private practice since 2001; counsellor in a GP surgery; counselling work with The Churches’ Ministerial Counselling Service; supervisor at the Speke-Garston Domestic Violence Project; associate counsellor with the Talking Matters Counselling Service (Salford); and volunteer counsellor with the Young Persons Advisory Service (YPAS) in Liverpool.
