How I can help you
For me good therapy is about developing a trusting and warm relationship with a therapist, where you can begin to explore and get to know yourself alongside an empathic and non-judgemental witness and companion. I am happy to integrate creative methods into therapy, and have supported clients to use drawings, writing and symbolic work alongside talking as an additional means of communication.
What to expect
I offer 50 minute sessions, either online via email or text messenger, or face to face. In an initial session with me we might talk about what brings you to therapy at this time in your life, what sort of support you are looking for - issue focused or perhaps longer term explorative work, and also how committed you are to this process.
I am a person-centred therapist. This form of therapy suggests that we all have within us the ability to make the best decisions and choices for ourselves given the rights situations and relationships. Many of us have not had good enough relationships and because of the ways we have had to be in order to feel loved, valued and respected - and sometimes in order to survive, often our own needs and feelings have become out of touch. We may feel emotionally numb, angry, depressed or anxious. Therapy can help to reconnect us with this sense of ourselves and our own experiencing and feelings. This renewed connection means that we are more able to fully experience life in the present, less caught by the past and less anxious about the future.
I work face to face, online using messenger or email, and also via telephone. This can offer flexibility if you choose to use more than one method, or increased choice if you prefer to access therapy remotely.
I am a registered member of the British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a member of Association of Counsellors and Therapists Online (ACTO) and a member of the British Association for the Person-Centred Approach (BAPCA). I am also a member of Intervoice.
