How I can help you
I only offer Video sessions. The main reason for this is that voice and IM sessions do not enable me to pick up on the emotion and body language of the client. Both of which are invaluable in counselling. The National Counselling Society have notified all accredited Counsellors that they do not believe Counsellors are able to maintain their professional high standards through such mode of session and therefore in order to maintain the required standards I will be limiting my online counselling sessions to video only.
At the start of any online sessions I will also ask clients to complete a Consultation form with their personal details, this is also important to ensure that I am able to keep the client safe should the session not be enough support etc.
I understand for Anxious clients that IM sessions are more comfortable, however I can assure you that it is my role as a Counsellor to be approachable, non-judgemental and understanding. Please feel free to message me to discuss if you have any concerns.
All information provided to me, including content of sessions, will be kept confidential, unless; 1) there is a concern for your safety or for the safety of others or 2) if you give consent for me to provide information to another professional e.g your Doctor.
I can offer an empathetic, non-judgemental, safe and confidential space to talk about, and explore, your issues. Sessions are non-directive and therefore run at your pace, not mine. The goals of therapy will be discussed the beginning but these can be changed and adapted if necessary.
I am trained in many types or 'schools' of therapy which enables me adapt my approach, depending on your needs.
What to expect
Each session will last for around 50 minutes. The first appointment will be an assessment session - this will enable me to gain an understanding of why you have sought counselling and what you would like to change. I will assess if I can help you and you will be able to see if you are comfortable working with me.
Each session after this will generally be lead by what you feel you need to talk about at that time, with your goal of therapy ultimately in mind.
I have worked in mental health for many years. My experience in this area means I have worked with people from all walks of life with many different issues. I worked as part of a therapy team for 3 years.
I work with Adults with a range of issues including; depression, anxiety, stress, addiction, abuse, relationship issues, self-harm, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss.
