    About me

    About Me
I started my career as a mechanic before diversifying to study and practice law. Since 2002 I have been retraining to enter the field of change work. My private practice, Life After Traumatic Events (LATE) evolved from personal life experiences involving traumatic events. LATE was set up with the vision of educating others who had been traumatised. Helping them to understand what was happening to them and why.  I specialise in working with people affected by trauma and have worked with people (both combatants and non-combatants) from conflict zones, from areas such as the Far East, the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe and more closer to home, Northern Ireland.

When we are affected by the experience of trauma, our sense of self is psychologically attacked; we may lose our self-respect, or self-worth; our self-esteem may become shattered. But what is trauma? Trauma, which comes from the Greek word meaning 'wound' is the psychological reaction or emotional response to a traumatic event. A traumatic event can be described as an event resulting in a person experiencing, witnessing or being confronted with actual or threatened death or serious injury or the threat to the physical integrity of either the self or others. The person’s response to the event may be one of intense fear, helplessness or horror.

What can I do to help?
I am committed to helping you recover from your traumatic event.

It maybe that you have experienced a ‘loss’ through bereavement, or through losing your job. Whatever it is that troubles you, share it with me, I am here to help.
