How I can help you
I help my clients by bearing witness to their distress, offering hope, and encouraging that inner spark of Self that has the power to make the changes needed for emotional equilibrium and a better quality of life. A non-judgmental listener, I see my role as honouring the capacity to change inherent within my clients and helping them to build on the strengths they have and the successes of the past (there are always strengths and successes).
What to expect
Primarily, I work on thinking and behaviour in tandem. We explore how thinking is impacting current choices, develop a new thinking process together, and then try it out in "real" life. We work together to tweak the thinking and behaviour changes, until life begins to move again in a positive direction. I am available for video, voice chat, and IM sessions.
Everyone deserves a future not dictated by the pain of the past.
I help individuals, couples, and families to recognise negative patterns of behaviour and then to identify and implement current strengths to facilitate change. I am specialised in trauma-informed therapy, and issues such as anxiety, depression, and processing adverse experiences which impact quality of life. I also have extensive post-doctoral education and training in chronic health/pain disorders, professional burnout, compassion fatigue, assessment, and cross-cultural therapy.
With over 30 years’ experience in various roles; partner, mother, grandmother, foster parent, teacher, mental health professional, and clinical supervisor, I am no stranger to the highs and lows of life. I offer practical help to change the pain of the present to hope for the future.
