Welcome to compassionate & flexible therapy where relationship and change are the most important things.
I specialise in relationships at home and work and other issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement and identity (LGBTQ, cultural or spiritual). I also work with those suffering from and affected by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, people facing the challenges of Expat life, helping the Elderly adjust to a new phase in their life and frequent travellers needing flexible support.
My calendar shows my general availability, if I'm online though get in touch and we may be able to speak sooner.
These are some of the things people say when our therapy has finished:
" I wanted to take this opportunity before this year is finally over to express my gratitude to you for all that you have done for me. In what has been a very strange year all round, your help and work in enabling me to overcome my own personal problems has been so so appreciated.
You'll be pleased to know that I continue to feel very positive and at ease. Situations are still being dealt with in a way and manner that no longer leave me feeling either angry or frustrated. Also that angst I felt over how I dealt with these moments is no longer an issue for me thanks to the techniques and methods you have helped me to learn. And that Elia feels great, really great! By N.
I came to see him to help me work through my ideas about my gender identity and my relationships (with family and partners). For the first time I started to understand how I relate to those around me and how, for so many years, I have been beholden to my emotions. With his help I have been able to deal with my anxiety and be more much confident in the choices I have made in my life'
He was kind, supportive and judgement free. I would wholeheartedy recommend him. He helped me look at things in a totally new way and I have been able to use what I've learnt to make positive steps to improving my mental wellbeing and happiness." By Adam
"I see my problems clearer and believe that they can be resolved. I now can analyse and accept my behaviour better without overwhelming sense of shame and guilt. Even though we were discussing a lot of the negatives, I felt empowered in a way that we are all people with our strengths and weaknesses and this made me appreciate and like myself more. My weaknesses are also part of me and it’s ok.
I also find EFT technique extremely useful in reducing anxiety and negative thoughts. [...] now I feel that I have more trust in myself and know some tools that give me freedom to deal with my issues. " By A.T.
What to expect
The first few sessions will be therapy with an assessment where we explore your situation and needs in more detail setting our therapeutic goals and a preliminary treatment plan. We then journey through your struggles together gaining insight to discover which tools best support transformation and improvement in your life. We will review regularly along the way.
I am an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor with 15 years experience of tailoring therapeutic and personal development support for individuals of all ages, cultures, sexualities and backgrounds in the UK and abroad. I work mainly on Skype and other online face to face technology (.e.g. Facetime, Plus Guidance and Viber) and believe that creating a warm, open-minded and progressive therapeutic relationship is as important as psychological theory. I also see therapy as an holistic process encompassing mind, body and personal beliefs or spirituality. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), abiding by its ethical codes.
My integrative training allows for plenty of choice about techniques to approach your struggles at your own pace to achieve the results you are hoping for. I commonly use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy to help you rethink, distance yourself from and choose alternatives to unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I practice Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which is starting to be used by the medical profession and has been shown to be very effective, particularly for reducing emotional distress. I also use psychodynamic techniques to look at the root cause of issues and Gestalt Therapy and Transactional Analysis to explore how these play out in your current life and relationships. I can provide you with therapeutic tools you can take away with you to further your progress between our sessions.
