How I can help you
We can't always anticipate the ups and downs we will experience in life. Even when there is some forewarning, it can be difficult to come to terms with your changed reality. People may have supportive friends and family, or none: either way it can be very hard to find someone to share your feelings with openly and honestly.
Counselling provides a safe space to do this, whether you have arrived at my page in the middle of a crisis or during a period of 'stuckness' that you can't quite move on from without a little help. I'm glad you were able to come here today and I hope that I can be here to support you as you begin to untangle and offload the baggage life has left you with.
What to expect
When you first message me, it will be a chance for you to find out a little more about me and the way I work, and for me to get to know you a little and what has brought you to counselling. I always offer a free initial 30 minute session (or meeting, if in person) so that you can see if you feel comfortable working with me before beginning counselling. There is no pressure to commit to counselling sessions following this initial conversation/session.
Your experience of counselling will be as unique as you because we will be exploring your individual experience of life, and your thoughts and feelings about what you are experiencing and what you've been through. We will talk about whatever you want to talk about and I will help you to explore whatever you tell me, to help you to make sense of things or consider different ideas or options about your situation. I am here to support you to express yourself in safety, so you can use me as a 'sounding board' to bounce ideas off of. I won't push you to talk about anything you are not ready to, or don't want to - you will know instinctively what you want to focus on.
Fees and Session Information
If you are happy to go ahead and commence counselling, we will take some time to agree how this will look. For example, 'live' video, voice and instant messaging sessions will happen on a time and day agreed between us. Sessions will normally be weekly or fortnightly, but I am happy to do one-off sessions less regularly (maybe if you just need some time to get things off your chest rather than have regular counselling). With email counselling, you can email me whenever you like, but before you begin, we will agree how often and perhaps when exactly you would like me to reply, for example, after every message, or once a week on a specific day.
|Type of Session||Length of Session||Price|
|Initial conversation||30 minutes||Free|
|'Live' sessions (Video, Voice, IM)||50 minutes||£30 (6 sessions for £150)|
|Email counselling||Send me as many emails as you like||£20 per reply from me|
I'm a fully qualified, experienced counsellor and Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I use a person-centred approach to counselling, integrated intuitively with theories and ideas from a number of other approaches I have studied over the years, when appropriate for you, in relation to the things we are discussing during your sessions. I have a calm and gentle manner, which I hope will put you at your ease so that you feel safe to confide in me the feelings and experiences that have brought you to counselling.
I understand that the anonymity of the internet can be a source of strength and confidence, but it can also be quite scary, especially if you are looking for someone trustworthy to confide in. So, please feel free to follow these links to the BACP Register and the BACP Find a Therapist Directory, where I am listed. I hope this puts your mind at rest a little and helps you to feel able to contact me if you would like to:
Where are you based?
My counselling room is located in Droitwich Spa, a lovely town in the heart of Worcestershire, UK. As well as working with clients face-to-face, I provide home visits to people who may find it difficult to get to my therapy room. I'm really pleased to be able to offer online counselling - I hope that this will make counselling even more accessible to my clients.
