How I can help you
Life can be hard. It's okay to reach out for help - sometimes we need a boost. I can help you in many ways... by catering to your unique personality and needs, by respectfully witnessing your truth and validating your experience, by allowing you to express yourself, and to help you make the positive changes you want to accomplish in your life.
What to expect
The words that summarize my style are: "Unconditional Positive Regard"
This is a counselling term that means that you are worthy and respected, regardless of what you think, say or do. There is no judgment in a therapeutic relationship with me. I honour where you are at this point in your life, and give you the choice and opportunity to decide what you think is better for you and how you want to get there. To help you, I can be scientific or spiritual, non-directive or advice giving, structured or spontaneous, results based or intuitive. I seek to create a safe space for you, where I follow your lead and help you in the way that resonates most fully for you. A space where you can say anything, including correcting me if I am not understanding you or if I am steering you wrong, so I can really help you in the best way I can.
I am a Registered Professional Counsellor candidating towards full certification, with a practice in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In my 40 years, I have had a wealth of personal experience, which greatly contributes to my education and professional experience.
Science tells us that our thoughts of self worth create our mental health. My basic goal is to help you see and believe in your own worthiness and change deep negative and false beliefs to new patterns of thought that will contribute to your wellbeing. This approach lies at the base of treating most of the discomfort and distress of life, from depression to anxiety, to dysphoria and angst.
Because I am trained in the Gottman method of couples counselling, I have many tools and techniques that can help you with all your relationships. The Gottman Method is a breakthrough approach built on 40 years of research. I am a big fan of the Gottmans: their method is direct, simple, scientifically validated and effective.
If you are divorcing and have concerns about your children and how they are coping, I can teach you what they need from you to keep them as healthy and as happy as they can be as your family changes form. Divorce is certainly difficult with or without children, and whether you have them or not, I can help you process the new life you are transforming into.
I am also trained in grief counselling as well, including surviving suicide. If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, I can help you navigate your time of mourning.
If you care for someone who has the symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder, or PTSD, I can help you foster a healthy, loving, supporting relationship with them.
You may be having issues with processing an abortion - I respectfully see all sides to this delicate issue and hold fast to and uphold each person's right to their own beliefs and choice.
I also support people who are transgender, and are aware of and sensitive to their choices and their hardship.
My last specialty and perhaps the core of my whole foundation is spiritual. I can do spiritual counselling from a modern or traditional framework, to help guide you to discover and create meaning in your life, and help you to gain resilience and hope in your life. If you are experiencing an awakening, it can be a confusing, isolating experience. Contact me to find support, help and encouragement.
If you are interested in contacting me, please send me a message and we can set up a time that works for you for an Instant Message or Video session.
