    How I can help you

    I am a flexible and with my skills in Life Coaching and qualifications in CBT and Counselling I offer you warmth, empathy, a non judgemental approach, and I will listen carefully to your current situation. Together we can identify patterns in your thinking, your behaviour, your emotional responses and the meaning of these to you. Integrating cognitive behaviour techniques into a person-centred approach I can help you challenge your negative beliefs and distorted thoughts of yourself others and the world and together we can set goals to reduce the physical symptoms of your stress, anxiety, depression or phobias or work to achieve the life you desire. We will focus on your thoughts that are preventing you from moving forward,  using CBT and coaching. I can teach you strategies for you to practise, apply and change , this process can alter your emotional and behavioural response in a more positive and assertive way. For time limited therapy I will apply a variation of CBT called Solution Focused Brief Therapy, here we will focus on your existing strengths work together, create your plan and so you can chose the life you desire. I work within the professional framework of the BACP and adhere to their codes of ethics and good practice and receive regular supervision.


    What to expect

    Sensitive questioning to identify your style of thinking around your presenting issues. Working together to help us understand what makes you tick. We can identify what you are wanting from therapy or coaching; you may want a one off consultation, some short brief solution focused strategies or you may choose to work with me for an agreed number of sessions or over a longer term where you can learn to re-write your beliefs you hold about yourself in order to transform your life, adopt a positive new approach to enhance your well-being.

    Using sensitive and motivating communication, you can expect some assertiveness training, plan pleasure activities into your schedule along with daily thought records. I can teach you breathing exercises, body scanning and Mindfulness based meditation, helping you focus on the present moment.  I will support you when you begin to work towards change. I will challenge your negative thoughts, help you increase your self awareness and encourage you to seek out proof that you can work towards trusting your own judgement, make your own decisions, feel comfortable and OK in doing this and accepting responsibility for your life decisions.

    About me

    I work voluntarily as a counsellor for a charity supporting carers. I qualified in 2001. I am married with three sons and a step mother to two young men. My youngest son has complex medical and health needs, Down Syndrome, severe autism and sever learning difficulties. I am passionate about supporting people whose lives have been touched by disability. Further cuts to statute services have been proposed and already we are experiencing a decline in mental health support from the NHS. I recognise this increases stress and anxiety in these challenging times . I can negotiate fees to ensure those on a low income can access therapeutic support that I offer in person, so please message me through this site. I have a keen interest too and offer on-line support to those people who are on the autism spectrum or have received a recent diagnosis and their families. I continue to stay up to date with legislative changes such as Mental Capacity Act and Autism Bill and develop myself professionally.
