How I can help you
Do you feel that nobody listens to you and you don't know where to turn? Many people say that counselling is the first time that they've been able to feel understood and really heard and that's exactly what I aim to offer you. I can help with a wide range of issues including relationship problems, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm, addictions, anger and stress, to name a few. I will tailor the way I work to suit your unique needs. My aim is to help you to explore your thought and feelings, make sense of them and become in touch with what they are telling you. I won't tell you what you to do because I'll encourage you to be autonomous and aware of your choices and your innate ability to know what is right for you. I also believe that self-acceptance is the key to a happier life and this is something I often work on with people.
What to expect
We can work using Email (asynchronous), Instant Messaging (synchronous) or video call, whichever you prefer. We will have a set day and time each week. If we work by email, I will ask you to send your email to me by a certain day and time and I will respond 24 hours later. We will also communicate using an encrypted service for security and confidentiality.
I am a BACP Registered counsellor in private practice, the Lead Counsellor and Manager for a well known charity community counselling service and an online counsellor for the same charity. I was once a Bank Manager before I reassessed my values and decided to train as a Therapist and I've never looked back! It does mean that I have extensive business experience which can be helpful. I've struggled with mental health problems myself which I believe makes me a more empathic counsellor and I'm also a semi professional photographer.
