How I can help you
We all face daunting and challenging moments in life. Often we feel aimless or face problems that we cannot get past on our own or with the help of friends and family. Other times we may be seeking to make changes to our life in order to find more meaning and direction.
Counselling offer's you the opportunity to explore your difficulty in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment. As an existential psychotherapist and counsellor, I aim to support and facilitate your personal exploration of your worldview and how you can make positive choices to work towards your desired goal. The therapeutic relationship helps you to work through difficult emotions and thoughts which may be stopping you from getting the most out of your life.
What to expect
Online counselling is a useful alternative to traditional face-to-face sessions. You can speak to a counsellor within 48 hrs and do not have to travel to your counsellor. Using Plusguidance ensures that your online counselling sessions are confidential and encrypted. It can also reduce the anxiety of starting face-to-face counselling by first exploring the positive effects of online counselling before progressing to face-to-face counselling.
After an initial contact email (which is free) I will send you a counselling agreement. You will sign and return it to me via email before our first session. Face to face, email or voice sessions cannot commence without a signed counselling agreement. To start your first email session you will write an email outlining your problem including all your thoughts and feelings. I encourage you to write as you talk and randomly as you choose. I will then spend 50 minutes reflecting and responding to your email.
Online email or voice counselling does have its limitation and is not suitable for people in a severely distressed state or crisis. Please contact the emergency services and your GP. For immediate telephone and online support contact www.samaritans.org or www.befrienders.org.
As a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor, I abide by the BACP ethical guidelines for psychotherapists and counsellors. For further information about the ethical guidelines that ensure best practice, please refer to the following websites: www.bacp.co.uk. I am also a registered member of the SEA (Society of Existential Analysis).
I hold an MA in Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology from Regents College, School of Psychotherapy & Counselling Psychology, London. Prior to my MA I have been involved in supporting young adults in secondary education to break barriers to learning. My first degree is a BSC Psychology from London Metropolitan University, London. Over the past 10 years I have worked in private practice, as well as within secondary education as a school counsellor and mentor.
