    Are you struggling to move forward in life? Feel stuck in a vicious circle or a rut? Perhaps you have overcome a great deal in life and want to move on to the next stage, but aren't sure how. You don't just want to survive, you want to thrive.

     I specialise in helping women from all walks of life recover from their pasts and discover their futures, be it healing from addiction, trauma, grief and loss, life-changing illness, eating disorders or relationship issues, and move forward with a more positive perspective and strategies to empower themselves for positive change. I use an integrated approach of DBT and CBT with mindfulness (fast becoming the therapy of choice) person-centred counselling and life coaching. I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist and EFT Practitioner and offer these as face-to-face therapies in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.  Here is a brief overview of these therapies and how they will help you...

    Mindfulness-Based CBT

    CBT, or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, focuses on your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, looking at why you think the things you think and how this influences the things you do. A proactive form of therapy, CBT  teaches you coping strategies to manage difficulties and strong research has proven it's use for anxiety, depression, trauma, addictions and obsessions and compulsions. By combining this with mindfulness techniques, this therapy enables you to focus on the present with acceptance, reducing depression about the past and anxiety about the future. Mindfulness helps us become free from the trap of negative thinking and develop compassion for ourselves. Studies have shown that when CBT is combined with mindfulness, it's long-term effects are even greater. I also incorporate DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which are both similar in using a blend of mindfulness practices with behavioural therapy. DBT is particularly suited to treating those with Borderline Personality Disorder, severe trauma and emotional issues.


    Person-Centred Counselling

    Person-centred counselling is an approach to therapy that involves helping the client to realise their full potential, to treat themselves with compassion and develop a positive regard for themselves. We are not 'flawed' or 'broken' because we are experiencing difficulties, rather negative life experiences can affect our self-esteem and sense of value. A person-centred approach is non-judgmental and enables the client to uncover their self-worth. This viewpoint underpins my entire approach. 

    Life Coaching

    Coaching helps you to form and achieve your goals, looking at all areas of your life including health and wellness, career, relationships and even spirituality. Coaching is perfect as a follow-on to therapy, helping you to move forward into a fuller life, or as an alternative to counselling for those who feel their main aim is to set and achieve future goals by changing their present perspective, rather than exploring the past. Coaching is a collaborative relationship and very much client-led.

    Hypnotherapy

    No, it's not about dancing around like a chicken! Although stage hypnotists have given this therapy a bad name, hypnotherapy is a powerful type of psychotherapy with incredibly effective outcomes. By guiding you into a relaxed state similar to that of a guided meditation, hypnotherapy talks directly to your powerful subconscious mind to empower you to make positive change from within, changing negative core beliefs and uncovering your inner self. Hypnotherapy is particularly effective at treating childhood trauma, body image issues and anxiety and phobias.

    EFT

    Emotional Freedom Technique is popularly known as 'tapping' and has astounded psychotherapists with it's ability to achieve sudden breakthroughs. EFT blends Western psychotherapy with Eastern energy releasing techniques, using a combination of tapping on acupressure points with focused talk therapy. It blends well with hypnotherapy and EMDR to release and heal trauma.

    I am passionate about supporting women through this vulnerable time and offer a range of therapies for perinatal depression and anxiety, birth trauma and post-natal depression. Women who have suffered abuse and trauma often find themselves fearful of birth and at risk for PND, but the right therapeutic support can transform your experience.     About me

    A former English teacher and author, I decided to train as a therapist following my own recovery from trauma, and discovering for myself how integrated therapy and coaching can transform lives and relationships. As well as offering online therapy I run a private practice in the West Midlands and facilitate groups in the local community. I am the founder of RecoverShe, a programme of holistic recovery and wellness coaching for women. I am trained by Chrysalis and the Centre of Excellence, and a member of the National Hypnotherapy and Counselling Society, the Complementary Medical Association and the International Association of NLP and Coaching.
