    How I can help you

    If you're tired of feeling stressed, anxious, experiencing worrying thoughts, panic attacks, feelings of depression, or any other uncomfortable emotion or symptoms, I'm here to help you.

    You may be feeling overwhelmed at the moment; challenged by something you're currently experiencing, or, affected by a past situation, or, you may find yourself constantly worrying about something that hasn't happened yet.

    My approach to supporting you, is through listening carefully to your experiences.  I'll work with you, in a non-judgemental, and compassionate way. I'll draw upon psychological tools to help you sort through your thoughts and feelings, to uncover what's contributing to you feeling 'stuck'. 

    Once you start to work through the questions I put forward to you, together we will navigate our way to the best solution for you. With a shift in your mindset, a shift in symptoms, can begin; reducing those negative feelings you have (such as worry, anxiety, panic or low mood), and turning them into new thoughts, which are more positive, and more aligned with the way you hope to be feeling.

    What to expect

    My aim to is enable you to feel relaxed through your connection with me. I ask a lot of questions (which will help you gain clarity and personal insight), and will work closely with you, but will never tell you what to do. I will respect you, respond to you without any judgement or bias, and offer education, tools or strategies that I believe will support you and help you through your challenging experience.

    I hope to build a genuine rapport with you, based on your openness and honesty, and a mutual respect - so that you can feel completely comfortable to share your thoughts and feelings with me. With this openness and trust, powerful and positive change and progress can then take place.

    In order to move forward in your life, you may seek to gain a greater depth of personal insight. This insight, is what can lead you to feeling 'better' or 'un-stuck', and being more hopeful and more optimistic for the longer term. 

    There are various techniques that I can help you learn, in order to manage your thoughts and emotions, and help you 'get through the day'. These practical solutions can make you feel more positive, day-to-day. 

    I provide my clients with education and understanding of what they are experiencing - I believe knowledge can be empowering to make positive changes with your health and emotional wellbeing.

    However, if you're looking to deal with deeper emotional challenges, or repeated patterns of behaviour, or negative thinking cycles that are problematic for you, finding the right counsellor to chat to, over a longer period of time, might be of interest to you. Over time, you are able to make a real difference to the way you experience your emotional and psychological wellbeing; this can have a positive impact on your personal relationships, self-esteem, work and career, and/or parenting journey, and your overall health for the longer term.

    About me

    I am a registered Counsellor, and member of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

    I have a person-centred approach toward my clients, and use evidence-based techniques including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and solution-focussed therapy (SFT) in my counselling. I also believe learning to practice Mindfulness, can be very beneficial for most people's emotional wellbeing. I believe a holistic approach to health and wellbeing is important, and that finding the right counsellor for you, is an important piece of your wellness puzzle - so that you can grow to being the best version of yourself possible.

    I have a degree in Psychology (graduated in 1999), a Masters in Addiction studies (2009), and have also completed a Diploma of Counselling (Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors). 

    I have over 12 years of employment experience, including Occupational Rehabilitation, Case Management, Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation, and Human Resource Management. I also volunteered as a Mentor, for a national foundation that supports Young Mums, throughout 2015, and currently volunteer as an online 'Listener' with another international therapy website.

    I live in Sydney, Australia, and am married with 2 children. I established my private counselling practice, Mind Momentum, to support women with various challenges in their life; whether these be personal, work related, or regarding their relationship/family. I also offer home visits to new mothers, who are seeking emotional wellbeing, and mental health support.

    I have travelled to many countries, and have lived and worked in Canada, China and South Korea. I have a strong appreciation for women who have culturally diverse backgrounds, and I understand how influential our culture can be on the challenges we face, the decisions we make, and the ways we live our lives.

    With a strong interest in perinatal mental health (including anxiety and depression during pregnancy and the postpartum period), I aim to support women in their transition from pregnancy to motherhood and beyond. Relationships, work-life balance, managing personal expectations, self-esteem, hormonal changes and stress, can all impact your emotional and psychological wellbeing. With the right tools and mind-set, you can move forward, and enjoy life in a much brighter way.
