    How I can help you

    If you're struggling, I aim to help you understand why. 

    The causes might be related to past events, current circumstances, anticipating something in the future - or a combination of some or all of these. Perhaps you want to make some changes in your life - or changes are already happening that you're resisting, you feel are moving too fast for you - or not fast enough? Maybe you want to examine your options?

    I work with people on a wide variety of issues - some of which can be resolved in just a few sessions, some of which take longer.

    The short-term work I do is often around career crossroads, job changes or opportunities - or resolving a specific relationship issue at work or at home. 

    Combating stress and building emotional and physical resilience can take a little longer, and dealing with deeper emotional issues such as low self-esteem or personal tragedy can take longer still.

    I've worked a lot with people dealing with loss - which might be the loss of a job, a relationship, their own health or that of a loved one, bereavement, coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis, or something else entirely. I also have experience of working with depression, anxiety, loneliness and isolation.

    What to expect

    Sessions usually last about 50 minutes.

    We can meet weekly (which is most usual) but I'm open to more flexible arrangements, too.

    The agenda is yours, and we'll address it by talking through what you think, feel and do.

    I have a Diploma in Counselling from the Wealden Institute - Humanistic, Integrative, and rooted in the three core disciplines of

    1. Person Centred
    2. Transactional Analysis (TA)
    3. Gestalt. 

    I'm a Registered Member of the BACP and I'm also a qualified coach, trainer, an NLP Master Practitioner and licensed to use The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI).

    I've undertaken continuing professional development which enables me also to draw on elements of:

    1. Solution Focused Brief Therapy
    2. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
    3. Mindfulness

    My fee for online sessions is £35 and for in-person it is £45. In both cases I charge a reduced fee of £25 for the first session to allow us to complete any admin required and test out whether we think we will work well together.

    About me

    I love the sea, and living on the South Coast of the UK. I'm self-employed now, but I worked for organisations for over 20 years, so I know what that's like, too. 

    My background was in financial services but, now I'm self-employed, I work with all sorts of different organisations - of all shapes and sizes and many of which are charities. I currently work part-time as a safeTALK trainer for Grassroots, as a workplace trainer for Samaritans and I volunteer as a counsellor with St Barnabas House (our local hospice) and as a mentor and breakfast helper at Worthing Churches Homeless Projects..

    I learn something from every client I work with and believe it's never too late to learn something new - lifelong learning is what keeps us interested and interesting!
