    How I can help you

People come to counselling for a wide range of reasons. Sometimes they are able to identify themselves what is going wrong, and just want some help working out what needs to change.

However, sometimes they just don’t know. What they do know, is that things are just not right. Or that there is so much going on, they feel over-whelmed.

If you are in either position; then together we can start to un-pick what is happening for you, and explore ways to make the changes required, to help you start to move forward.

    What to expect

Initially, please make contact and we can have a no obligation, brief conversation to discuss what’s brought you to counselling.

I understand that this first contact can be very daunting, and that it is difficult to start talking to a stranger, about issues sensitive to you. Pleased be assured I am approachable and will create a safe environment for each and every step you take.

It you are happy to continue; we can then arrange a convenient time for our first session. Times can be flexible to suit your availability.

During our first booked session we can explore in more detail the issues that are affecting you, and then together we can help to build up a picture and start the process of working out a way forward.

    About me

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), and a fully qualified counsellor with an Advanced Diploma in Professional Therapeutic Counselling.

My experience includes working with adults, young people and children, suffering from a wide and varied range of issues. I am able to work with most of the difficulties people may be facing.

I have completed additional specialist training in some specific areas, including trauma, bereavement, complex grief, palliative support and suicide intervention.

Generally I work using in a person centred approach, however I do draw upon different counselling models if I feel this would be of benefit to you.

If you have any questions, or are confused about the different counselling approaches/models, please feel free to ask. I am happy to explain and discuss what is available, and what might suit your needs.
