How I can help you
I have a passion for people and helping people navigate the complexity of life toward the goals that matter to them. I work with Corporate workers, young adults, and adults of all ages navigating life transitions.
What to expect
I believe in what is formally called Person Centered Therapy. What that means is I believe the first priority in helping you is listening to you and understanding where you are emotionally in your situation. I also strongly believe that there is tremendous value in giving you a private relationship to just talk through your emotions, hopes, setbacks, etc. You can expect me to offer honest feedback and an easy environment to talk creatively about your life.
Tamra's passion is working with clients struggling with hopelessness, toward the goal of identifying a client's source of motivation & stressors and actively developing a plan to make needed changes to execute on goals and reduce stress.
With years of experience in managing workgroups and developing people, Tamra can actively provide resources and tools that are commonly needed for career changes, business startups, skills development, and other services commonly needed when making significant life changes. Think of Tamra as the social worker for higher order needs -- the services needed to help high-functioning people navigate complex career changes such as reskilling, business startups, etc. While social workers focus on basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing, Tamra works with people on career identity, spiritual development, and self-actualization.
PlusGuidance is an effective platform for the initial consultative and assessment phase to establish the go-forward plan and make deliberate decisions relative to the need for professional counseling.
Tamra holds an M.S. in Counseling Psychology and has not pursued licensure as a Counselor in the US, because this active consultative work does not fit into the currently accepted 'norms' for counseling work (which is increasingly excluding anything but behavioral work).
If a client appears to be dealing with anything beyond mild depression, Tamra will insist on the client seeing a licensed counselor in parallel with ongoing work on goals and life changes.
