How I can help you
After we meet, we will identify and discuss what might be most helpful and work on what you would like to gain most from the therapy. I generally provide long-term psychotherapy although I can provide short-term counselling and this really depends on what you need and what we identify as being most useful for you in therapy.
Most people I work describe that through the process of therapy they develop a greater understanding of themselves and the issues they originally sought therapy. They feel more confident and free to express themselves and be known. They learn to relate better with people and strengthen friendships and improve intimate relationships. They find a sense of purpose in their life, a sense of satisfaction and resolve the reasons why they initially sort therapy.
What to expect
I am an empathic and compassionate person. I practice in a consistent and ethical way and my therapeutic approach will give you an opportunity to work through what is most important to you. My approach will aim to bring you comfort and support, help you to understand yourself, to understand your experiences and to understand the relationships and the world around you. Ultimately this will support you in being genuinely authentic with yourself, to accept yourself and to be free in how you relate with others. I aim to provide you with holistic growth through the development of insight, self esteem and change at a core level. Not just in providing you with skills and strategies to get you through the short term.
Please contact me to discuss this in terms of your specific circumstances.
I am a clinical social worker and professionally qualified Counselor and Psychotherapist. I specialize in individual psychotherapy and counselling with adults and teens 16 years and over. Whilst I see myself as a generalist due to my holistic approach to psychotherapy over the past 15 years I have worked in a number of specialist therapy areas including:
I have a variety of interests and love to learn and read. I also have academic interests in a number of fields including Theology, Philosophy and Social Sciences.
I love people and spend a great deal of time with my family and friends. When I’m not with them (or working therapeutically with clients) I am usually out and about walking my dog or looking after the various other pets who call our house home.
